One of the Costa Blanca’s most prolific Musical Directors is set to retire!
Mr Charles Smith, always known as “Chas” is returning to the UK and as such a new Musical Director for the much acclaimed “Crescendo International Choir “ is now required.

It is now 6 years since “Crescendo” was formed and has never looked back. Every year has seen an improvement in singing and deportment and now is regarded by many as one of the best ‘ex-pat’ choirs in the area. They have raised thousands of euros for charity performing 10 – 12 concerts a year.
The format of the choir is Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass and they sing a wide variety of songs ranging from musicals to spirituals, from pop to classical and all types in between! The membership (apart from the start-up year) has maintained a level of approx. 60 singers and.with currently 66 members on its books is in a healthy state. It has also retained over the years a sense of being a ‘family’ with a caring attitude.
The choir rehearse once a week in Bar Oassis in Torreta 3, Torrevieja on a Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.
So, if anyone reading this aspires to conducting and training such a group of people please contact the chairman of “Crescendo”, Mr Lawrence Gee on Tel: 966 734 783 or Mob: 699 155 158
'Crescendo' - The Fun Choir
Based in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, Spain, was formed in 2004. It is registered as a charitable organisation and has made many contributions to charities all over Spain and in particular in Alicante Province. The photo taken on March 8th 2009, at the music school in Montesinos shows the first outing of the new costumes. The sparkling red of the ladies jackets, and the matching red bow ties worn by the men, matches the warmth within the chorus and vigour of the music they produce. The music is always varied to suit a variety of muscial tastes.
"Singing is a serious business as we all want to sing our parts right, but here in Crescendo we generate a lot of fun. First and foremost I like to see and feel the happiness that comes from singing. I believe that if we, the choir, do not enjoy ourselves how can we expect our audiences to enjoy our singing. So, from enjoyment stems all the other attributes of singing." - Chas Smith (MD)
