Issue No.4
September 2011
Hello Fellow Choristers!
A BIG WELCOME BACK TO YOU ALL –
We trust you have had a lovely summer and are now fully refreshed and ready for
some more singing.
During the summer break, we
did manage to have a get-together in the form of a lunch at Manolo’s. Thanks to John and Jenny who arranged it, 39
members and family enjoyed an afternoon of eating, drinking and much
chatting. It is hoped that we can have a
repeat performance some time in October, especially for those who were unable
to join us due to being away on holiday.
Again, thanks Jenny and John.
Many thanks go to the
Committee for all the support and work they have given throughout the break,
and to non-Committee members who have also supported us. Special thanks go to Sara who has been
available through the summer to do a good translating job. Thanks also to Ken Webb who has stepped in as
Librarian, and to Stuart Rolls for emailing choir members and keeping them up
to date with information, and finally to Elly for assisting me with concert
planning. At present we have 3 concerts
organised, with one or two more in the pipeline; regrettably the British Legion
concert in Orihuela had to be cancelled due to a change of council. Don’t forget to check out forthcoming
concerts on the notice board.
Our first rehearsal night of
the season was a resounding success; the warming up exercises, followed by the Humming Chorus were
excellent for getting those vocal chords working again. Well done Sixto and Irene for a good start!
On the notice board please
find a telephone list for all members – if you do NOT wish your number to be
included, please remove it. Once
finalised, a copy will be sent out to members with the Newsletter.
Newsletters are now being sent
out via email, and if you are not receiving your copy please inform Phyl Webb;
OR if you do not have an Internet facility, also let Phyl know so that
arrangements can be made to print a hard copy.
It would also assist greatly if a fellow member could print documents and
download disks for you.
Although the music schedule is
for each forthcoming concert, please keep all the music on the list in your
folder in case they are added to a rehearsal night.
To boost our own funds we are
continuing with the Penny Appeal, so could you let Sam have your spare
coppers. We are also still running our
3-for-2 raffle tickets – please continue to support and buy your tickets from
Jean as you sign in – all monies raised are for YOUR benefit and help to keep
the yearly subscription down.
Every rehearsal night sees the
same few setting up the room and clearing up – may we have some more help? Could you arrive by 5:30 and lend a hand? And afterwards, would you kindly clear away
your one chair!
And finally – please, Please,
PLEASE spend more time listening to your disks, it helps tremendously on
rehearsal nights and will greatly speed up the time spent on each song. If you don’t know it – you can’t sing it!!
